Ingredients
  

  • 6 Leftover donuts
  • cups half & half
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Cooking spray
  • Parchment paper

For the Strawberry Glaze:

  • 10 smallish strawberries diced
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¾ cup water

For the Vanilla Glaze:

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation:

  • Chop leftover donuts into bite-sized pieces.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13 casserole dish with cooking spray and line with parchment paper.

Crouton Base:

  • Spread chopped donuts evenly in the prepared dish.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, ensuring they are dehydrated but not too hard.

Custard:

  • In a bowl, mix half and half, eggs, vanilla, sugar, and salt using an immersion blender.
  • Pour the custard over the cooled croutons, ensuring each piece is coated.

Baking:

  • Bake for 40 minutes until the casserole puffs up beautifully.
  • Strawberry Glaze:
  • While baking, dice strawberries and prepare the glaze.
  • In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
  • Add lemon juice and diced strawberries. Bring to a boil, then simmer until thick and glossy.
  • Vanilla Glaze:
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Assembly:
  • Once the casserole is baked, cool slightly.
  • Drizzle strawberry glaze over the casserole in a pattern.
  • Finish by drizzling vanilla glaze and garnishing with chopped strawberries.
