Buttermilk Biscuits: Foolproof Recipe for Homemade Goodness

Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of butter
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cut the butter into small pieces.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar to the bowl with the butter.
  4. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix the ingredients until they resemble coarse crumbs.
  5. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the honey and buttermilk.
  6. Stir the mixture until the ingredients are just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough biscuits.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
  8. Shape the dough into a square that’s about an inch thick.
  9. Cut the square into 9 equal pieces.
  10. Place the biscuit pieces in an 8×8-inch baking pan, leaving a little space between each piece.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 14 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
  12. Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Enjoy your homemade buttermilk biscuits!
